The flower: Zinnia, The Butterfly: Cloudless Giant Sulfur (male). Both the flower and the butterfly are showing some age, but even this one took some waiting to capture. They fly rather erratic and it's hard to get close to one with camera in hand. Easy with no camera! I used the 35X zoom on my Canon SX40 to get this shot........like I said, it's hard to get close to one! :-)

This is a real beauty, Larry....the colours on the butterfly mirror the yellow on the flower, the composition is just right....and the framing superb...what more can I say?

Thank you Lalbabu. The colors are kinda soft, but sometimes that is just the way it is.

Thank you Geoff. It was a pretty good catch for me because of the shyness of the Sulfur Butterfly.

Ruth, perhaps you have just a small space where you could plant something in a pot. A good many of my flowers are in pots (large pots) that require hand watering every day. There is something magic in the watering of plants (especially flowers), both for the plants and the person giving the water. They thrive on attention!

Sylvia, thank you. I used one of your many secrets in the photo.

Thank you Anna-Maria. Even though I shot this with an 840mm lens equivalent, I used Macro focusing which made all the difference. I also used two or three filters in the Picasa3 software package....simple enough for me!!

Thank you Bea. Lots of butterflies this year. Probably because I planted more Zinnias than I normally do.

I get plenty of butterflies in my garden but not quite as colourful.

Jean, there a lot of these around abouts every year. The backside of their wings are more orange and very colorful as they flitter here and there.
