The pears are so sweet again this year, so the deer pay no attention to the passing cars in the street just 20 feet away.
At first, the ripe pears fall to the ground and I get a few, and the deer get a few as well. Later on, as they turn yellow on the tree, I dig out my old pear picker, made for me by my 'yard-man', consisting of a gallon size tin can with a 'V' cut in the side opposite the side of the can where it is lashed to a 25 foot long bamboo pole with a couple of those nylon ties used occasionally now by the law enforcement community for hand cuffs.
The sharp 'V' grove serves to cut the stem of the pear and the pear falls into the can. Wish you were here! | |
