In late Spring here, toad frogs come out of wetlands and decend upon my little pond. For about 24 hours or so, the high pitched sound is deafening. A few days later, teeny tiny tadpoles appear around the edges in the tens of thousands. 10 days-2weeks later, they are fewer in number but larger in size. Surely fish must eat some of them or it would be like a Moses curse around here.
This is another of my weed flower series....the tadpoles were just a bonus!

Thank you Fleur.

Thank you Anna-Maria. All sorts of life around my little pond. The pinkish flower might be Chinese Artichoke and I'm not sure about the yellow flower. I would guess sweet clover, but the stem is too long for that. Everything but the grass seems to be invasive plants.

Barbara, I'm going to step out on a limb here and suppose that 'cracking' is a synonym for 'good.' Now there I go being over confident which is against my character. Really!
Weather here, like everywhere else on the planet has been a little wacky too. I live at 30º lattitude, whereas you live at 50º or thereabouts. Explains a few degrees difference. Nights here are still pleasantly cooler (50 somethings).
I ate my first blueberry today, so you know I was thinking about you.

A weed is only a flower growing where you don't want it.

At first I thought it was birds in a dull sky with a bit of blur. Great shot, I was going to ask ''when is a flower a weed''? I think potterjo may have answered it.

I agree with you Jo.

Reg., this is "life on the edge" of the backyard pond. The lovely flowers went the way of the "weed eater" yesterday afternoon....qualifing them as weeds :-) They will be back faster than the height of the grass for qualification #2. Jo had it right though, as you already knew.

Bea, the pond has several kinds of frogs that I hear but rarely see. Last night, the tree frogs around the pond and woods were very loud outside, but sweet music to go to sleep by (inside). The music of nature is very sweet!
