there is a clay available that would seal the leakage all by itself. the clay platelets arrange themselves in such a manner to not let any more water pass. it is very inexpensive, under $5 per 100lbs and all you have to do is pour it along the dam into the water and keep it stirred up for a while.

I've never heard of it Günter. If you ever happen to recall the name of it, perhaps you will let me know. Originally, their was a wooden dam, but I poured concrete behind the wood which helped a little. Several hundred thousand gallons of water @ 8+ pounds per gallon puts a lot of pressure on a dam even with very small cracks. The rains that filled it up so quick (10inches) are very rare in N. Florida. The last time we had rain like that was 18 years ago. Who knows though.....global warming, climate change and all that.........

I'd like a "back yard" like that, Larry! In the UK we only use that term for a small garden that's mainly paved over and with few or no flowers. It looks as if you have your own extensive park behind the house.

Sylvia, I do have a lot of space to roam. Population is not as dense where I live as compared to the U.K. Property is not as expensive either! I really love where I live...every day.

And I'm not surprised that you do, Larry...it's very beautiful!

Thank you Anna-Maria. I have four beautiful acres. About half is wooded and there is spring water creeks running throug it too. Ideal for me!
