This is a cucumber flower. The cucumber variety is "Diva" and the cucumbers born on these vines are so delicious, one has to lie down to eat them !!!....thin skin keeps the inside crisp and juicy. The only cucumber I've eaten that I didn't have to peel. Seeds obtained this past winter from Pinetree Garden Seeds in New Gloucester, Maine. Plant lots of them. If you don't, you'll regret it after tasting the first one. I think they are best while standing by the kitchen sink, with a salt shaker in one hand.....same way I eat tomatoes! Yum! I was just kidding about lying down to eat um...I don't like to get salt in the carpet! :-) | |
