ROUNDFRIDAY
This is the "Exosphere" by Ingo Günther, hanging in the piazza of the WeltForum building in Volkswagen´s AutoStadt -wich is a sort of Volkswagen group (VAG) based theme park in Germany. (Or visitor centre, perhaps). (Opened in 2000 - really interesting - a lot of ultra modern architecture & design).
From the WorldProcessor exhibition, the Exosphere is a globe representing the Earth in the scale of 1:1.000.000.
Set in the glass floor are 60 smaller globes, each depicting a different global statistic: birth rate, death rate, vehicles per capita, televisions per capita, carbon emissions, ozone layer breaches, energy consumption and so on.
The Atomic clock display is positioned where AutoStadt would be on the globe, assuming that the bottom is North and the vertical red display is the international dateline. | |
