And another scan from my slides - and a rather special one at that ;-)
It was taken pretty long ago...in 1986!

That was the year of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, f.ex.
But it was also the year that Reagan and Gorbachev met in Reykjavík, Iceland. As world leader meetings go, this one was of an almost impromptu nature! And it was during this meeting that real breakthrough was made in understanding between the superpower leaders. Actual agreements would not be made until they met next time, but this was the real watershed moment.

Hey, I've lived close to the russian border at the time of the incident -> maybe that's the reason that my lights are so dim?????????
Love your pic Karl, beautiful as always!
Have a good day

Misscharlie: Not unless you were living in Scandinavia or Europe at the time, if you were living in Alaska f.ex. then there would be another reason for your light-dim-ness ;-D
The winds were westerly, you see.

Well, the exception to this is France. Officially the radioactive cloud didn´t touch France at all (although all the countries surrounding it were touched). Apparently they were *really* lucky with the wind ;-)
