Winnipeg, Canada
At this point The Red River and the Assiniboine River converge and become one, the Red River, as they have done for the last 10.000 years.
This juncture of the two rivers caused this location to become a trading post for ancient first nation peoples from as far away as the Dakota's.
The Red River comes up from the Dakota's to the south while the Assiniboine originates in the west. Native tribes used to paddle to here in their canoes to trade with each other. This junction is now known as The Forks.

What a 'gentle' photograph. I want to be sitting on that mud bank.

Its interesting to think of how it used to be back in the pioneer days... My Grandfather had some land on the Harrison river here in BC and he got to know the local natives that had traded and lived off the land and rivers for centuries!! Has the Red river swolen to its peak yet Jomoud? The Fraser is now at its highest and they have been busy preparing for possible flood!

Peter:
The red has peaked some 10 days ago. Flooding this year was not too bad.
Lets hope flooding of the Fraser will be at a minimum.
