July 1 is Canada Day.

Canada Day fireworks in Winnipeg.

The final bursts!!



I used the Canada Day fireworks to test out a different lens, a Tamron 28-200.
I also decided to try and use some different techniques of shotting the fireworks.

Jeff,
For a first time it was not bad, but it can stand some improvements and practice.
What I meant by technique is the use of black cardboard.
Shooting in Bulb mode, open the shutter (cable) and keep it open. In between bursts I covered the lens with the black cardboard.
Of course with the shutter open that long it does create some more noise.
It is the timing of the open shutter that I need to practice a bit more.

I was out doing this Friday nite - a spot I wasn't sure about although I figured it wouldn't be as crowded (100's of k's of people show up for these things)
There are about 20-30 different areas all less than 25 miles apart that do "city" fireworks in addition to the grand whopper that is at the Arch (where there will be 500k min peoplle that show up) - it has been named one of the top 10 firework displays in the nation - wow!
