Exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Having reached the end of the wildlife loop road, we turn left onto the famous Iron Mountain Road, which will bring us back to Keystone.
The Iron Mountain Road is known by motorcycle riders throughout the world as the one road they have to drive. Each year during the week of the annual Sturgiss motorcycle rally, bikers drive this road at least oce.
I drove the road by car, and marvelled at the scenery, but also needed great concentration to make my way through the many hairpin curves.
However, I enjoyed the difficult road and now proudly sport a T-shirt that proclaims on the back:
I SURVIVED THE IRON MOUNTAIN ROAD
17 miles - 3 pigtail bridges - 3 tunnels -
over 400 bends and hairpin curves
22 switchbacks.
