Nippers Tug-of-War. Always ends in a draw, of course! Just after I took this photo we had a T-o-W between the kids (the under-6's) and the parents; while the parents were chatting & waiting while holding the rope, someone yelled "PULL" and before we knew what was happening the kids had pulled so hard we were literally pulled off our feet!
Don't worry, we'll show 'em next time.......NEXT TIME!!!!!!

When I go to the beach, I am forever on the lookout for nippers. But I think that maybe it's a different thing....

Nearly every beach in Australia that is within a stone's throw of a populated area has a Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC), usually run by someone who gets paid for it but staffed by volunteers. Every one of these SLSC's will have a program for kids from 5 - 16 called "Nippers" where they do all sorts of beach-based activities, including surf competency (e.g. learning how to spot dangerous currents), resuscitation techniques etc, but mostly just running them around in sand to wear them out! ;-)))))))
