Today we did the yearly excursion from the military herritage foundation, we visited 4 forts (from of the 42) of the defence works of Amsterdam... look at our website http://www.stelling-amsterdam.org/english/ for more info.
after Weesp we went to fort Uitermeer, another tower type fort, the military tried to blow it with explosives in the '50s... here the left over of it and the waterworks they restore !

	Apr 23 2006 18:00 GMT hans55 PRO dit was dus gisteren ... weet jij het engelse woord voor sluis ??... dit is dus de oude sluis van de vecht naar de vaart, is al jaren dicht en nu weer op gegraven !

	Apr 25 2006 06:32 GMT hans55 PRO thanks Riet ... so this is a lock and a sluice ! ... main reason for this sluice was to put water from the river "de vecht" in to land if front and flood it, to keep the enemy's out !
