Many years ago a dakota crashed in Baltistan (Pakistan) and Brig Aslam Khan formerly of the Kashmir State Forces bought the wreck from PIA and turned it into a cottage first for himself and later for tourists on the edge of Kachura lake near Skardu. This later transformed into the Shangrilla Hotel and the plane is still there as a coffee shop. How the plane was dragged to its present location is an adventurous tale by itself
Hans, I was surprised by the amount of seats. I always pictured it as smaller
inside the cabin, too bad they were taken out of service, loved watching and
hearing the the roar as they flew into JFK airport.
