today i had an invitation to be at the launch of a website from walkpaths in North Holland ... walked with some officials from a village "De Rijp" to fort "Spijkerboor" .... not that bad weather this morning so we did a nice walk !
Spijkerboor is one of the largest fort from the Amsterdam defence works !

Scary, indeed! Holland had cruel losses during war as well. I never saw the real damages, of course, but looking at all those brick buildings from the '50s I can imagine the proportions of the destructions...

well the defence works of Amsterdam "stelling van Amsterdam" was already old fashion before they finished building it ... all 42 forts only in use during WW1 ... they never fired a shot ! ... after that it was used as prison and warehouse for explosives and stuff like that !
