Has the Swiss government gone mad? Arresting Roman Polanski! Have they become puppies of the US like some other governments, too?

If you think the same post this picture on your page

I have the impression that the Swiss government is trying to please the US for some reason.
(no, most of the time I don't agree with the decisions of our government)

So let me change the question above.

Polanski raped a 13-year-old. What is your problem with his arrest?
Sep 30 2009 16:08 GMT grimp PRO
The victim at the centre of the case, Samantha Geimer, has previously asked for the charges to be dropped. She has already sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement.

That's not the whole story. Have you read the transcript of her interview about the incident? She also says he was very wrong. Most likely she wants the charges dropped because she doesn't like being hounded by the media.
But the fact is that a 44-year-old man raped a 13-year-old girl. He admitted it and then skipped the country.
It appears you work in a school. What would be the statute of limitations for one of your students? What if one of your kids was raped by the janitor? Thirty years later, do you think the janitor should be held responsible for his crime?
Most people think so, and that has nothing to do with Hollywood nor international law nor "undisclosed settlements" nor the victim's change of heart. It has everything to do with the rape of a child.

From my work at school I know that there is no such thing as 'innocent' children. Especially some girls of that age know very well how to play with their charms and in some the hormones run amok. At 13 or 14 some would try and succeed to pass themselves off as 18-year-olds.
And let's not forget that the 70s were a sex-crazed period. For climbing up the starlet ladder some would have done certainly the same thing. I do not wish to provide an excuse for Polanski but had she gotten a part in some production nothing would have happened I'm convinced. Because I'm sure that similar things happened many times and still happen today. Besides we don't know the whole story.
I also have my problems when a country asks for international laws to be applied and does itself not adhere to other international laws.

I think Polanski tried to pass her off, to himself, as an 18-year-old by first getting her drunk. Do the crime; do the time.

I went through the last 51 pages of uploads and did not see any more red crosses.

Like Ted Kennedy, Michael Jackson, OJ and more did? I don't believe there is a thing called 'Justice'. It died at the end of WW II if it had ever existed.

Both of us weren't at Jack Nicholson's house.

If Ted Kennedy, Michael Jackson, OJ and others had been convicted, I would have rejoiced. Instead, I also cringe at criminals getting away with crime. Polanski ADMITTED to raping a 13-year-old, and then ran from justice. I don't need to have been there for those things to be true.
I wasn't standing next to my car when somebody broke in to steal my computer and camera, but they did it and got away with it. Maybe I had it coming, by your way of thinking.

Maybe or the other way round or for something entirely different.

Or maybe just 42.

Amen!
