mini me lol. THE GIANT. this is a giant steel sculpture on scarborough sea front. entitled freddie gilroy and the belson stragglers. it is based on freddie, a retired miner who was also one of the first soldiers to relieve the belsen concentration camp at the end of world war2. it represents all the people who were pulled out of ordinary lives and forced into very extraordinary and dangerous ones during the world wars. sculpture is by ray lonsdale.
