An ultrasound on December 16th revealed a mass on my right kidney.
A CT scan between Christmas and New Year revealed a possible Cancerous tumour and a kidney stone.
A visit to the specialist at Dunedin Hospital in January gave good news and bad.
The bad news was I had a kidney stone. The good news was I would not have to pass it as they were removing my kidney.
February 12, the deed was done.
March 3rd, I received the news that the cancer was contained in the kidney, grade 2 out of 4, no sign of it having spread, good as new.
Almost.
I never got my kidney stone back but I did get these photos.
Anyone interested in the more graphic surgery photos please message me and I will email some.
This is my kidney and surrounding tissue that was removed during my operation.
For those who think this looks like a huge container, the photo before gives a better perception of size. My wife, weesue, always thought they were called kidney bowls because of the shape, not because they put kidneys in them.

Thanks fotothinger. nzshutter is a bit miffed I got photos. He was refused when he asked for photos to be taken during his heart surgery, just over a year ago now.
It has been a bit of a rough ride but I am getting better everyday.
