The weather was nice on Sunday, so we decided to pay a visit to the shoreline park.
This area had been filled in during the 1980s, but a cooperative effort by several environment groups lead to efforts to restore the marsh and reclaim the land for wildlife. This particular section of the park was completed in 1998, and the project restored the tidal flow to these wetlands. The birds have started to return.
We started our walk at the San Leandro Creek staging area. This creek is one of several creeks and sloughs that feed into San Leandro Bay.
We'll be seeing a lot of birds during our walk, including these mallard ducks. (#1 of 2) | |
