An amazing set of tree roots!

This cedar tree is on the grounds at the Piedmont Avenue School in Oakland, California. This school serves younger children from ages five through eleven, and I sometimes see the students walking on the roots.

Yes, that tree is well behaved. Some of the sidewalk sections, the darker gray parts, date from 1941!
