This is the entrance to one of the interpretative trails in the park. There are displays about the other plants in the redwood forest, such as the kind of oak tree that seems to like being in the company of redwoods, the ferns and vines, and the flowers, such as trilliums.
This particular trail is geared toward blind visitors, and the signs are in Braille. I like the way that redwood bark feels -- it's a little spongy when you press on it with your fingers. The trees also have a lovely sweet fragrance.
One of the things that I like best of all about a redwood forest is the deep silence. It's so quiet, so peaceful. I try to take that silence away with me, and remember it when I'm back in the rush and noise. | |
