Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park --- #3 of 5

The city of Chico was founded by John Bidwell, who settled in the area in 1843. John and his wife, Annie, lived in this beautiful mansion, which served as a social and cultural center.

The Bidwells had quite a collection of carriages. These are the originals, not replicas!

I think you're right. The Bidwell farm and orchards were extensive, and I can imagine that they used a lot of water for irrigation.
