Visiting Cazenovia, New York --- #9 of 12
Tuesday, October 5, 2010

According to Wikipedia, Cazenovia was established in 1794 by John Lincklaen, a Dutch naval officer. The town is named after Theophilus Cazenove, an agent with the land company.

Cazenovia College was founded in 1824 and, from the beginning of its history it was a coeducational college, which is quite a progressive idea for the time. It's now a small independent college that grants bachelor's degrees, and it has a very good reputation.

This historic bell dates from 1824, when it was acquired through a fundraising campaign.
