redwood redwoods tree

the redwoods at Colonel Armstrong park (4 of 5)
Mendocino County, California
photo taken October 23, 2005

Andrew is taking a closer look at the roots of another fallen giant. Since coast redwoods don't have a tap root, they can fall over if the wind is too strong.

A redwood can live for hundreds and even thousands of years but then, one day, poof! Down it goes.
