Visiting the Landis Arboretum --- #3 of 10
Esperance, New York
Wednesday, October 6, 2010

The Landis Arboretum is located on the site of a 19th Century farm, the home of Fred Lape, who founded the Arboretum. He established the arboretum in 1951 and it was incorporated ten years later as a memorial to George Landis, a colleague who collaborated in making the plantings.

Mr. Lape passed away in 1985, and his homestead became a laboratory, classroom, nature center, gift shop, and gardening library for the staff and garden volunteers.

Great entry Lovely ...it's always special when one takes the time to describe the history of an entry.....lovely scene.
