Celebrating spring: our Lady Banks rose has started to bloom.

The Lady Banks rose is an early bloomer, and the first flowers usually open in March in our area. If I remember correctly, it's a native of China.

Yes, the show is just beginning! There are dozens of buds ready to open during the next few weeks.

This particular rose is a thornless variety. It's a good thing because it shoots out a lot of suckers. I would hate to have to prune those away if I had to deal with thorns.
