Visiting the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle, Washington --- #1 of 10
Sunday, July 18, 2010

We ended our day by heading back to Seattle for a visit to the Olympic Sculpture Park. This was a former industrial site, and it became part of a brownfield development project. The park features a salmon habitat with native plantings, public gardens, and there are public artworks throughout the park.

This beautiful piece is "Split", a stainless steel sculpture by Roxy Paine. The artist used pipes of more than 20 different diameters to represent a natural tree's structure.

Cool sculpture...really looks like the real thing until you look closely at the trunk.
Did you see any salmon in the habitat?

> Did you see any salmon in the habitat?

Alas, I didn't. I would have liked to have seen some but I didn't really know where to look. It would be nice to take a walk in the area with a naturalist.
