dirtgirls? relative to street-girls?

Never understanding how some names were made. And i would have no names like this being in my house to avoid bad-luck. Not my fault, right mame?

When I first joined Fotothing, I became friends with (curves). He was an artist and gardener, and we would exchange presents. He sent me a box of bearded iris tubers from his garden, including this beautiful variety.

His nickname for bearded irises was "dirtgirls" and he would also log onto Fotothing using that name:

(curves) died a couple of years ago, and there are a lot of other people here on Fotothing who miss him. You might see other tributes to him with the "dirtgirls" tag.

I still can't understand why such a name given to such a beauty. And if i had the same honor of being sent one by curves i would asked him myself. But i do think both of us know why the name from that artist whom i admire too. Or am I wrong this time, mame?

Well, I didn't ask him about the nickname. I just enjoyed his gifts and was thrilled to receive them ......
