Alameda County, California
Spring 2010

There's a maze in this meadow!

There are at least four mazes in the Sibley Preserve. This particular one is at the end of a hidden trail near the park entrance, and it's easy to walk right by and miss it!

Here's a closer look at the design.

Part 3 of 3

This is the final picture from my Sibley preserve visit. For more pictures, including two of the other mazes in the preserve, please see:

Love love love this series!

Is this anywhere near La Jolla? I'm reading Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv. There is a chapter dedicated to an "urban wilderness" called Fay Avenue Extension. I imagine this is what it would look like. The book is 5 years old however, so I'm not sure if it still exists.

No, this park is near Oakland and Berkeley, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I understand California is festooned with many lovely natural settings. Some day I'll get over to that side of the globe again. (Oregon and Washington in 2005)
