visiting Denver, Colorado
Thursday, November 4, 2010
Denver is the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado, and our hotel was just a few blocks from the grand capitol building. This fine capitol dome features real gold plate that commemorates the Colorado Gold Rush.
Denver is also known as the "Mile High City." This is because the 13th step on the west stairway entrance of the state capitol building is exactly one mile high (in English measurements).
One mile is 5,280 feet or 1,609 meters. You can tell that we're near the Rocky Mountains!
