Oakland, California
A couple of years ago, the voters in Oakland passed Measure DD, a bond issue that makes money available to improve the city's parks, creeks, and museums. Since Lake Merritt is a city park, a chunk of that money has been made available for improvements along the shores of the lake.
The plans are in place to improve the 12th Street Bridge and this old boathouse. I'm glad to see that the work has started at the boathouse. This was a lovely building, with its arches and red tile roofs. It had been so sadly neglected, but we're working on getting it restored.
Since I voted "yes" on Measure DD, this construction site makes me happy. I'm looking forward to posting another photo when the work is finished! | |
