We spent the morning in Arcata, a college town located on Arcata Bay. The plaza is the center of town, and it's surrounded by shops, bars, cafés, theaters, and live music clubs. There's a lot going on, even during the summer holidays.

The statue honors U.S. President William McKinley. It was installed in 1906.
