Now we're entering the redwood forest. These are coast redwoods, and they are native to this area.

For some reason, the trees are tipping toward the footpath. Redwoods typically have a very shallow root system, with no tap root, but I wonder if there's an additional cause.

I would blame soil creep for the leaning trees. A couple of the trees on the left appear to be bending upward, which is another sign of creep, but it may be distortion from the camera too.
