I'm in Grand Rapids, but a lot of my family is from cities surrounding Detroit, such as Highland Park and Brighton and Ann Arbor.

She was asking, so I said I would ask you. She was born in Detroit and lived in Dearborn as well later. I am from INdy, so not too far away.

Ciekee, you would have loved it! There were about 100 of these beautiea just sitting by the river. My wife and I put our chairs down right next to them and took pictures like crazy! I have never been able to study them up close before. Had no idea there was so much color in the feathers. You don't see it from below when they are flying. They just ignored us for the most part and did whatever they were doing, (goose stuff I guess). :-))

My grandmother's family came from England about 100 years ago and settled in Detroit. My great-grandmother lived there till she died at the age of 90. I suspect she saw A LOT of changes to her little neighborhood. I'm pretty sure she was south of 8 Mile, but it's been since about 1974 that I was last at her house, so some of the details are fuzzy. ;-)

Yeah, my wife's family came over from Sicily, dad side, and Poland, mom side, also about 100 years ago, mom was also south of 8 mile. May have been neighbors, who knows?? Small world at times!
