One of my favorite fighters of WWII. the P-38 Lightning. This plane was quite revolutionary for its time and very fast! I think it is one of the most beautiful planes ever built!

I used to see these just about every day when I was a kid. Not on the ground though. High up in the sky. The most identifiable plane we saw back then (in the 50's).
