Various colors of lava rock. This all came from the eruption of mtlassen in 1915. It was a large magma type eruption and spewed lava and rock for 100 miles. Common to find lava rock all over this area, right where they landed in 1915!!

Great.
I live in a very non volcanic area, all the rock around here is volcanic granite but its 300 million years old.

Are there any active volocanoes there? I know there are many in the south pacific area.. I am no expert but I understand there are several types of volcanic eruptions that produce very different rock formations after cooling. :-)

Thank you, Erica! I hope your Sunday is wonderful as well! My wife and I are going on a photo adventure to a park and nature preserve along the river near here. Should be fun, lots of spring birds about. :-)))
