These are raisins, sultanas whatever you want to call them - dried grapes.

Every winter one Musilim family travel 1000s of miles from Xinjiang province in China's far west to sell these beauties here in Southern China. At the end of winter they disappear back home to look after the next year's crop.

I've come to know them quite well over the years and always look forward to seeing them.

many from that region come with their produce. often melons, or nuts, or a honey candy, even with clothing, down here in beihai many also opened restaurants with freshly made noodles and goat meat.
