A Spanish reporter interviews Mexican horror and fantasy movie director Guillermo del Toro at the Toronto International Film Festival, September 13, 2006. Del Toro had just left the daytime screening of his new movie Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno), a fantasy fairy tale set in 1994 Fascist Spain. Del Toro, director of Cronos, The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, and Hellboy, learned English by reading Mad Magazine and Famous Monsters of Filmland. His Q&A session was hilarious, as he described his youth as his church's spokesman for the Virgin Mary, volunteering to work at a morgue, and his fascination with Catholic images of devils.
