This is a Quaich.

A Quaich is a drinking vessel used in pledges of friendship or of kinship that is used in Scotland.

I am a member of a kilting site known as www.xmarksthescot.com for whom this was specially made. It is traveling around the world from member to member with a book containing people's writings and comments and each person adds something for the Quaich to take with it on its travels.

It arrived in early February so I thought I would try it with some whisky to bid it welcome.
