The evening light on the edge of Swinhoe Lake, in Northumberland.
St Cuthbert was carried close to this place in the 7th century, on the way from Lindisfarne, to his last resting place in Melrose abbey.
This area has such a tranquil and gentle atmosphere. Very few people come this way, in this remote part of north Northumberland.
It is only a few miles from the sea, and the historic Lindisfarne priory - one of the early Christian places, in Anglo-Saxon England. | |
