Gothic faces.

Demonic and Alien-esque.

York Minster, founded in 627 when King Edwin of Northumbria rejected the old Germanic Gods for Christianity and was baptised here in a simple wooden chapel.

The Gothic style is most notable for its distinctive pointed arches and its rich decoration - especially the faces!

The present Minster dates from 1230 to 1475.

Stonemason artists at their most creative.

The old architecture is my weakness. I love this picture.

Cheers Mel. good of you t comment.
Love the cathedral - far better tnam I expected!
I even prefer this style of architecture, to that of Notre Dame in Paris (my fav European city)
But hate the congestion and bloated, tourist machinery of York.
