She had taught me at home and she left me when she saw my hand go up every time the teacher, Miss Jimmie Shackelford asked a question. I was an "eager beaver" all through grade school.

So eager that the 3rd grade teacher, Miss Edna Moncriel, tied me in the desk with a rope!
