Bloomingdale -Mr. Ronald (Ronnie) S. Hathaway, 63, of Bloomingdale, GA, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Ronnie was born on December 31, 1942 in Savannah. He graduated from H.V. Jenkins High School and later attended Armstrong College. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1972, serving in the Vietnam War. He was employed by Great Dane Trailers for over 38 years. He coached girls' softball and basketball for years in Effingham County. He enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with his family and was a faithful Falcons' fan. He attended Life Springs Worship Center. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Hathaway and father-in-law, Floyd Mathews, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, JoAnn Hathaway, his daughters, Tonja Hathaway of South Guyton and Tammy Hathaway of Bloomingdale; his mother, Clarice Hathaway of Parkland, FL; mother-in-law, Sallie Mathews of Port Wentworth; brother, Aaron Hathaway and his wife, Madelyn of Parkland, FL; cousins, Braxton and Brenda Jeffers of Bloomingdale; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lynn Mathews of Savannah, Ronald and Cindi Jenkins of Cleveland, TN and Floyd Mathews, Jr. and Loretta of Tallahassee, FL and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. on Friday at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Pooler. Funeral: 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road.
