Savannah - Vineater Ferguson Batten of #1 Victory Manor Place, died Wednesday at home after a long illness. Mrs. Batten attended McRae -Helena High School, where she graduated in 1938 as class Valedictorian. She was the Widow of the late Willie Karey Batten. The Eastman, Georgia native lived in Savannah most of her life. She earned a certificate of completion in cosmetology at the Madame Cargo Beauty School. She was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the Missionary Society, Deaconess, Willing Workers and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Ms. Batten has no surviving siblings. However she leave to mourn three daughter, Geraldine Batten Lewis of Savannah, Barbara K. Batten of Atlanta and Mary Ponville of Grand Prarie, TX; two sons, Willie E. Batten of Bronx, NY and John E. Batten of Savannah; two sons -in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great -great -grandchildren. Bynes Royall Funeral Home.
