Ed Ray, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, of Hapeville, GA, died April 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, James P. Ray, and is survived by his mother Melba Ray, wife of 38 years Camille, daughters Sunnie (Larry) Whittenton and Alice Ray, granddaughters Beth, Brittney, Mackenzie and Carlie, siblings Don (Susan) Ray and Anne (Brad) Newman, sisters in law Kay (Danny) Marler and Janice (Ken) Simington, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Ed served as a Deacon at the Hapeville First Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed times when everyone could be together and have fun. He could be counted on to entertain with his excellent jokes or lead everyone in a song. Ed taught everyone to love the beach and the Georgia Bulldogs. He had vacationing on the beach down to a science. Ed loved his country and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved his city and served on the Developmental Board and as City Councilman for the City of Hapeville. He believed his city is a jewel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Hapeville First Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment, College Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tile Fund, Hapeville First Baptist Church, 612 College St., Hapeville, GA 30354.
