Gainesville, GA- Maree Garvin Montgomery, 92, of Gainesville died Friday November 10, 2006 at her residence following a period of declining health. Mrs. Montgomery had lived in Hall County for the past 18 years having moved from Savannah, Georgia. She was born in Savannah to the late William Dunnamon, Sr. and Mary lhly Garvin. After graduating from Brenau Academy, she attended Brenau College and later received a degree in Theater from the University of Miami. She was baptized as a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Savannah and later became a member of Kilough Church by the Lake in Dawson County. During World War II, she served in the American Red Cross and was stationed in Hawaii. As the wife of Lt. Col. Billy Montgomery, she served as president of the Officers Wives Clubs on several of the Air Force Bases where they were stationed. Mrs. Montgomery enjoyed gardening and floral design and received awards in both of these areas. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Survivors: husband of 52 years, Billy Montgomery Gainesville, GA; daughters, Monica Carnes, Gainesville, GA and Mauria Clark , Ft. Collins, Colorado; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday November 12, 2006 from 4 until 7 at Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville, Georgia. Graveside services will be held Tuesday November 14, 2006 at 11 o'clock at Bonaventure Cemetery (Greenwich Section) in Savannah, Georgia Executive Pastor to the Seniors, Rev. Wayne Watts will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kilough Church by the Lake, Building Fund, 75 Elliott Road, Suite 140, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534.
