He was a native of Montgomery County, living most of his life in Toombs County. He was owner/operator of Cooper Rentals in Hinesville, a member of Vidalia Moose Lodge, Vidalia Masonic Lodge, Alee Shriners of Savannah and Grace United Methodist Church of Vidalia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Meddle Leon Blaxton and Ollie Mae Durden Blaxton and one brother, Larry Blaxton. Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 46 years, Frances Roberts Cooper of Vidalia; one son, Carl (Dana) Cooper of Vidalia; two brothers, M. T. (Mary Lou) Blaxton and Jerry Baxton all of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Elise (Craig) Dismuke of Lyons and Clint Cooper of Vidalia, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held 6:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2007 in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Canton Cooper and Reverend Paul Thompson officiating.
