Tybee Island, Chatham County, Georgia, U.S.A - Ophelia "Fiji" Reese Collins 97, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007 at home under the care of Hospice Savannah. She was born October 23, 1909 in Ohoopee, Georgia to the late Hershel and Julia Reese. She married her loving husband Oertell Collins in 1924. She was 14 and he was 17. They were married for 58 years until his death in 1982. They lived in Savannah and Tybee and owned the Forest City Lumber Company. She was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church at Tybee and a former member of Trinity United Methodist in Savannah. Surviving are, her sister, Pauline Richardson of Orangeburg, South Carolina, two brothers, Hershel A. Reese of Norge, Virginia, Eugene Reese of Gastonia, North Carolina, a special friend of seventeen years, Drew Covar of Tybee Island and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 5 p.m. until service time at the Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church on Tybee Island. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 6 p.m. at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Sunlight Baptist Church in Cobbtown, Georgia with the burial in the church cemetery.
