Mr. Nelson David, of Savannah, GA entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 13, 2006. He was born on June 30, 1921 in Garnett, SC. He was the son of the late Mr. Andrew David and Mrs. Eliza David-Lewis. He was preceded in death by his brother Curtis and other siblings who died in infancy. He attended the public schools of Estill, SC. After moving to Savannah with his family, he was hired by Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. He retired after many years of service as an Apprentice Foreman, having earned the respect, admiration and friendship of his supervisors and his peers. He was known for his honesty, his vibrant personality and his strong work ethic. He had accepted Christ at a young age and had been a member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church where he was a trustee for over 55 years. He was a "watchman" in his neighborhood, looking out for children and adults. Mr. David was a faithful and loved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor, and servant of God. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of over 65 years, Mrs. Bertha P. David; three daughters and a son-in-law, Elease D. Sams of Savannah, Mrs. Carolyn D. (Spurgeon, Sr.) Goodrich of Far Rockaway, NY, and Ms. Deborah David of Jamaica, NY; one great-grandson, Mr. Christopher Sams of Gainesville, FL; a twin brother, Mr. Richard David of Garnett, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
