Baxley -Grady Mobley, 87, died Sunday. Mr. Mobley was born August 21, 1919 in Burke Co., to the late W. O. and Jenny Bonnell Mobley but he resided in Appling Co. most of his life. He was affiliated with Dunn Lumber Co. and Pine Center Hunting Preserve; he retired from the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Invasion of Normandy and The Battle of the Bulge and received a Purple Heart and a distinguished Medal of Honor. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 4472, the Homesville Masonic Lodge 195 F & AM, and the Appling Co. Field Trial Association. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Fossett Mobley. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Julia Nell and Wally Shaw; son, William Johnson "Jay" Mobley; brother-in-law, Ranville J. Fossett; grandchildren, Catheryn Shaw, Claire Shaw and Jim Shaw. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday in theChapel of Swain Funeral Home.
