Thomas J. Hicks III embarked on his most fascinating yet final fugue on the 55th anniversary of his birth, on April 11th 2007. Thomas was a poet who endeavored to persevere, to accentuate the positive and to always have the time of his life. He was a native Atlantan who attended the Westminster Schools and Dykes High School. He graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville. Thomas was a rare gift: Chivalrous, Creative, Diverse, Distinctive, Eclectic and Remarkable. Often described as unconventional, unique and unusual, Thomas was imaginative, ingenious, inimitable, inspirational, inspired, inventive, irreplacable. Thomas' poetry was visionary. He was an artist, always a southern gentleman, an expert fencer, a hunter and a pianist. He was a calligrapher, a craftsman, a collector, a student as well as a teacher, a counselor, a therapist, a mediator and a moderator. In all he did, Thomas was an original. Eventually, he was a tired and weary traveler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Thomas J. Hicks, Jr. of Copperhill, TN and Mrs. Sallie Cobb Johnson Hicks of Atlanta. Visitation will take place at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill, on Saturday, April 14th, from 4 to 7 PM and Sunday, April 15th at 3:00 with graveside service to follow at 4:30 at Arlington Memorial Park. Arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son, 1020 Spring Street Atlanta 30309 (404) 876-1022. ABYSINNIA.
